  General Notes:

Sophia Allen was reputed to be the model for Lucilla Stanley, the ideal wife in the book Coelebs In Search of a Wife. Comprehending Observations on Domestic Habits and Manners, Religion and Morals', by Hannah More, published in London, 1809. (Coelebs means Bachelor or single man in Latin).

Volume 1, page 185 When Miss Stanley came in to make breakfast, she beautifully exemplified the worthy housekeeper's description. I have sometimes seen young women, whose simplicity was destitute of elegance, and others in whom a too elaborate polish had nearly effaced their native graces: Lucilla appeared to unite the simplicity of nature to the refinement of good breeding. It was thus she struck me at first sight. I forbore to from a decided opinion, till I had leisure to observe whether her mind fulfilled all that her looks promised.

Sophie married William GILES [7495] [MRIN: 2500], son of John GILES of Southwick House [10494] and Mary SAUNDERS [10495], on 2 Jan 1808 in Burnham on Sea, Somerset. (William GILES [7495] was born on 1 Jan 1783 in Mark Highbridge SOM, baptised on 1 Jan 1784 in Mark SOM, died on 23 Feb 1853 in Frome SOM and was buried in St John Frome Somerset.)
