Jacob was presumed by Cresswell to be the son of John Alston and Martha Stock. Jacob was from Wrens, Polsted Birth date uncertain. Will dated 12 April 1759 was proved P.C.C. 3 July 1760. Tombstone at Edwardstone Churchyard reads "Jacob Alston of Polsted d.18 May 1760 a.64".

Jacob ye son of John Alston and Mary his wife baptised 21 June 1696, Jacob Alston buried 2 Dec 1757 also 23 May 1760 Edwardstone. IGI & Edwardstone Parish Transcripts Alstoniana.

Jacob may have married twice? a headstone at Edwardstone reads "In memory of Mary wife of Jacob Alston of Polsted who died 21 Sept 1750 Aetatis 54. She left one son and four daughters. At her feet lieth her son John who died 3 May 1746 Aetatis 19 years.

1. Jacob Alston: Will, 1759, Polstead SFK.
THE WILL OF JACOB ALSTON OF POLSTED, Gent.
Dated 12th April 1759
I give to my grandson Jacob Alston the messuage and farm with the buildings and lands situate on Wickerstreet Green in Boxford upon the expiration of the present lease, upon condition that he pay to my daughters Elizabeth and Sarah Alston within one year after the expiration of said lease the sum of L100 each, also for 3 years that he pay to them the rent or sum of L24 for said farm.
I give to my daughter Mary the wife of John Wisto the sum of L50 and an annuity, of L4
The sum of L100 with interest due to me from John Wisto I desire to be divided among the children of my daughter Mary Wisto
I also give to my grand-daughters Mary and Hannah Wisto L100 each with remainder to the survivor
I give to my daughter Martha the wife of Josias Shansfield the sum of L50 with an annuity of L4
The sum of L100 due to me from Josias Shansfield with interest to be divided among the children of my daughter Shansfield
I give to my grand-daughters Martha, Elizabeth, Mary and Sarah Shansfield L100 each, with remainder to the survivors or survivor.
Should my grandson die before the expiration of the lease of the farm, I give the said farm to my two daughters Elizabeth and Sarah Alston as tenants in common, subject to a yearly rent charge to each of my daughters Mary Wisto
and Martha Shansfield, and the further payment of L50 a piece to my above said six grand-daughters.
I give to my dear wife Elizabeth L20
The residue of my estate, I give to my two daughters Elizabeth and Sarah as tenants in common and not as joint tenants and appoint them executrixes of this my will.

CODICIL 31st March 1760.
The sum of L100 due to me from my son-in-law Josias Shansfield to be given to my grand-daughter Katherine Shansfield, born since the making of above will, on her reaching the age of 21 .
I give to my grand-daughters, Mary and Hannah Wisto, and Martha, Elizabeth, Mary, Sarah and Katherine Shansfield an annuity of 20/- each until they attain the age of 21, besides the legacies left to them in my will.
