Jack managed a cattle station in Queensland Aust, then in 1930/31 moved to Laidley Queensland as a Main Roads Board Inspector. After WW II he worked as a market gardener at Eight Mile Plains. He served in the Artillery with the Australian Forces, both in Gallipoli and France, during World War I.

ARTICLE FROM A PAPER CLIPPING :
The relatives of Mr. John Julius have just received a cable from London, which states that he has been, appointed a Lieutenant in the Australian Forces. Mr. Julius,who is a splendid horseman, was one of the first company of Australian artillerymen to leave for the seat of the war and was recommended for a commission after service in Gallipoli.
On the voyage out he was on board one of the transports for which the Emden waited and saw the Sydney swing round in pursuit of the German boat. He was well known in Brisbane, where his relations reside and previous to leaving, to serve the Empire, was engaged in farming pursuits at Kingsthorpe. He is a son of Mrs A Julius of Brisbane, a brother of Mrs H.T. James and of Mrs Simmers New Zealand, and the Missses D and M Julius Brisbane.

As a child, World War I - a splendid horseman he was promoted to Lieut in the Artillery, and served in Gallipoli and France, at his wedding 1918, a later date.
