STAMER [28851]
- Born: Cir 1475, Wethersfield ESS
- Marriage (1): John PASFIELD [28850] in 1499 in Wethersfield ESS
General Notes:
The document used in identifying the spouse of John as Miss Stamer came from a court case in London's Court of Chancery about 1575. William Pasfield, a great grandson of John, was trying to defend his title to his Wethersfield property against forfeiture and sale. He stated that "one John Stamer and Isabell his wife were heretofore seised to them and to their heirs" of some copyhold property after their death. He claimed that his grandfather Richard Pasfield (son of this John Pasfield) "was owner of the copie holde land" stated in the lawsuit because he was an heir to John Stamer and wife Isabel. Based on the age of John Stamer's only other known child John, it is most logical that Richard's mother rather than his wife was the Stamer heir in question.
