Richard Hayward of Wethersfield leases house Rich Herward of Wethersfield lets his house called Goldynggs of John H. (his brother ) from 29 September 1486 for 10 years upon condition that said John H. shall newly thatch the hall and all other houses where necessary and repair some with timber work and daubing; and also make an oven and a `kelle' in the kitchen and a chimney in the hall. This work is to extend over a period of three years, after which the said John H. shall pay to Richard H. 6s.8d. yearly, and if said John shall wish to buy the house at the expiration of aforesaid 10 years, he is to have it for £10 payable over 5 years. John Harward, husbandman of Norton, Suffolk, v John Passefeld, tanner of Wethersfield, Essex: lands and tenements in Wethersfield. Demanding John Pasfield, a tanner, pay 120 pounds owed for monies collected from some unspecified lands John controlled in Wethersfield. It is not known the outcome of the suit. John was a tanner by profession like his father.[1] He surrendered to John Spring the use of a field called Manfeld and a pasture called Motennesmede in Wethersfield on 22 Mar 1508/9.[2] Either his uncle John Hayward or his cousin named John Hayward moved to Norton, Suffolk County, England. By 1510, this John Hayward had a filed a suit in the Court of Requests in London demanding John Pasfield, a tanner, pay 110 pounds owed for monies collected from some unspecified lands John Hayward controlled in Wethersfield.[3] John Pasfield sold a property called Goldyngs to cousin Richard Hayward, Walt Spring, Thomas Spring Jr, John Livermore of Gosfield, and Thomas Cutt on 7 Feb 1516/17.[4] He had inherited Goldyngs from his parents.
