My dear Arch
If you are really to be married on the fourth I think this is the last letter to reach you at Crowe Creek -and must bring my very best wishes for every happiness and prosperity for you and Clara -dear boy - you may be sure we shall all think of you and wish we were there to wish you good luck.
I haven't heard from you yet how and where to send your present and am afraid now it won't arrive before you leave - if you haven't written me instructions please do at once - so I can send it off. Give my love to Clara and tell her how pleased we shall be to see her.
With dearest love and kisses for yourself dear Boy from your ever loving Sister.
Madge.

Dear Alice
You are learning to write very nicely but I am afraid my writing is too funny for you to read yet. The photographs daddy took are very nice what big fellows the boys are Ralph is just like daddy and you are like mother - and what a nice warm jersey you have got - or do you call it " my sweater"? Uncle Jack has five cats, there names are Tiger, Pale Face, Smith's Favourite, Lion and Pink Nose, and they are such good little cats and wash each other's faces and never fight and scratch sometimes Lion will stalk a hen and take a piece of bread from it. I expect you get very hungry walking such a long way to school, and that is what makes you so round and fat. Little baby Mary had a birthday and was one - I made her a Dolly out of two clothes pegs and a cotton reel - with blue trousers white coat and a long black pigtail. She pulled off the pigtail very quickly.
Lots of kisses for Ralph and Little Frank and Mother and Daddy and most of all for my little Tuppence

My dear old Arch
I am so very glad you have passed the exam, the family have all worn a perpetual smile since your letter came and I am filled with admiration at your cleverness in the studying all alone for it. Now you must look out for a really good mine before Gills? Swamp gives out.
We have been so disappointed with the photographs we took while we were away most of them are no good and we can't account for it but we like this one of little Alice. Then see you taking all to Jenolan, I would love to have been with you. Things here are going on much the same I see mother has told you all the news. We have had no more frights with burglars they caught a man but so much of the stuff he has taken is melted down and we think ours must be among it.
Goodbye dear Boy - kisses for the little girl - when is she going to begin to talk, and love to Clara and yourself from your loving.
Madge

My dear Arch,
So many times on the Nells wedding day we said "if only dear old Arch were here" it was our only regret - It did seem a shame when you had arranged to bring Alice & come at the last minute, and Clara making her things so pretty to - we were dreadfully disappointed. We are still hoping that you may turn up next week to see them when they come back from their honeymoon. They go back to Soombungee? on the 7th Feb (Tuesday Week) & you are to go there & see Nells "humpy" & stop on the way at Jack's Establishment & advice about the coal - if you come up. We really did the wedding in tip top style everything was the best and everyone looking their best - you would really have been so proud of the old home & your family Nell looked a picture - we had a photographer out to take photographs before we went to Church & there is a beauty of Nell and an awfully good group of ourselves - we are quite sorry the bridegroom isn't in - but it was so dull that photographs wouldn't have been good when we came back from Church. Of course we shall send you all the photographs - and there are one or two snapshots that may be some good. Nell is sending wedding cake next week when she comes back. It is such a shame it is raining so hard - it is not the right weather for a motorboat and the Bay - but still they are sure to enjoy it immensely no matter what the weather is like - and after all rain is much better than heat.
Very much love to you all - I hope Clara is very well - & kisses for Alice from your loving sister
Madge
