bullet  General Notes:

BARRETT— JULIUS. On Wednesday a very pretty wedding was solemnised in St. Peter's Church, Akaroa, which was decorated for the occasion, the contracting parties being Mr William Charles Barrett, eldest son of Mr E. Barrett of Grehan Valley, Akaroa and Miss Lucy Julius, fifth daughter of Rev. A. H. Julius of Akaroa. The ceremony was performed by the bride's father. The bride who was given away by her brother-in-law Mr Frank Armstrong, wore a beautiful white embroidered silk jersey cloth. She carried a beautiful bouquet and wore the conventional veil and orange blossoms. Miss Marjorie Julius, younger sister of the bride acted as bridesmaid, wearing a pretty heliotrope and pink tricolene dress and grey, heliotrope and pink hat. She also carried a bouquet. The two little nieces of the bride Misses Mary and Stephaine Armstrong acted as flower girls wearing white lace frocks with heliotrope satin bodices and tulle veils. The whole bridal party looked very pretty indeed. Mr Joseph Barrett, the groom's brother acted as best man. The service was fully choral, both children's and adult choir taking part. After the ceremony a reception was held by Mr and Mrs Julius in St. Peter's Sunday schoolroom when a very large number of residents assembled to wish the young couple every happiness. A most delightful afternoon tea was enjoyed by all. After duly cutting the cake the bride left to dress for the journey and later the bridal pair were motored to Christchurch by Mr F. Armstrong. The bride's travelling dress was a navy blue serge costume braided and she wore a black hat edged with mole. She also wore a set of black furs. The bridegroom's gift to the bridesmaid was a signet ring and to the flower girls gold brooches with monograms. The bride was the recipient of a large number of beautiful presents, including cheques and a tea set given by the children's choir. Mr and Mrs Barrett are taking up their residence up Grehan Valley Akaroa where they carry the best wishes of a large number of friends. In the evening Mr and Mrs Julius entertained a large number of friends in St. Peter's schoolroom.
