George did not marry, he is described in 1871 as a magistrate and farmer of 357 acres. George continued to develop the herd of Hereford cattle founded by his father, he lived for many years at Marlow Lodge Leintwardine which belonged to a fellow bachelor, farmer and Hereford cattle breeder Joseph Green.
Georges will was proved 13 February 1901 to his nephew Edward Powell Smythies at L24054 re-sworn in June 1902 L28332.
