Richard Bendyshe Richard Bendyshe was born at Broomford Manor in 1933. Following his two years' national service in Germany, he decided to follow the Elworthy tradition of sheep farming and spent some time as a cadet in Western Australia before working with his Uncle Harold and his cousins Peter and Jonathan Elworthy at Craigmore.
On return from his travels he attended Cirencester Royal Agricultural College and then worked as a farm manager on Earl Bathurst's estate in Gloucestershire.
After marrying Angela Beresford he worked at Broomford, taking over the management of the Broomford farms following his father's death in 1962, until the estate was sold in 1989.
