Major General Sir John HANMER 3rd Bart Hanmer [2981]

  General Notes:

Sir John served with great honour as commander of a regiment under King William at the battle of the Boyne. His cousin and successor Sir Thomas Hanmer was Speaker in 1712 and Dr Johnson wrote "Illustrious age how bright thy glories shone, When Hanmer filled the chair and Anne the throne". He died s.p. his title reverting to his nephew Sir Thomas Hanmer 4th Bt.

John married Lady Mary ALSTON [2980] [MRIN: 1001], daughter of Joseph ALSTON of Bramford [2976] and Mary WARNER [2977]. (Lady Mary ALSTON [2980] was born on 24 Mar 1640/41 in Bramford SFK, died on 11 Dec 1709 and was buried in Bramford SFK.)
