Research Notes:
Posted by Diana Thompson on her Blog " Ingram Ancestral Tales" Friday, December 23, 2011 The Alston Connection The post has been inspired by a newly-discovered website of a distant cousin, Edward Fenn, who is related through the Alston line! I have a habit of regularly googling ancestors' names. A week ago I tested "Samuel Alston Ingram", a great grandfather on my mother's side and was thrilled to find his name listed on Edward's website. Here is the link to the website: http://www.thekingscandlesticks.com
Check out 'Family Pedigrees' and search for the surname 'Ingram'. You'll find Samuel Alston Ingram is one of 33 Ingrams listed there. Edward is looking forward to hearing more about the Ingram line from me over the coming months. I already knew a fair bit about the Alston connection from earlier research. Samuel Alston Ingram's mother was Maria Alston (1805-1873) who married Rowland Ingram (1803-1880) at St. Martin's Church, Leicester in 1830. It was such a joy to discover photos and portraits of some of my direct ancestors and their kin, including Maria and Rowland! It was also the first time I had come across a written reference to the Delft origins of the Vanderzee family although I have long suspected this possibility given the name! Much research work will have to be done before I'm ready, but I've already put Delft on the 'preferred destinations' list! It would be fitting to finish this post with a photo of Samuel Alston Ingram but unfortunately I am unaware that one exists so here is the next best thing - a photo of the beautiful area in which he chose to settle as an Australian pioneer.
