bullet  General Notes:

Rosamond from a very early age lived in China, India, England, back to China, finally to settle in Australia. Her early years were much affected by WWII and the communist takeover of China. When she was in England with her family they lived in Manaton Devon, and St Peter Port Guernsay which she remembers she hated! During that time she was educated at home by her mother. The family escaped Mao Tse Tung's army's, leaving on the last British ship out of China, and travelled to Australia
Rosamond remembers they were met by her Grandmother Marjory in Sydney, Marjory was then living in New Zealand, but had lived with them in China before the war. After a few months in Adelaide they all settled in Albany W.A. After finishing her schooling in Albury, Rosamond was accepted for nursing training in Freemantle where she qualified in 1962. She and her husband Ian worked in the Wheat Belt and at the Goldsworthy Iron Ore mine and Morawa Iron Ore.
In 1988 when all her family had left home she and Ian went to NSW on a working holiday, while nursing in Sutherland Rosamond badly hurt her back, after an operation she worked in Medical Records for a year before going travelling again.
She and Ian agreed to separate in 1991 and Rosamond returned to Sydney, moving three years later to New Zealand where she and her son built a house at Bethells Beach Auckland. Returning to Perth in 2000 to support her mother who had injured herself Rosamond retrained as a nurse and worked in Age Care for some seven years until her mothers death.
Returning to Bethells Beach Rosamond retired, spending her time there with her son Andrew, and in Sth Westland with her daughter Catherine.

Rosamond has been a significant contributor to the history of the Giles and related families in this record.
