Precis of the Will of WILLIAM ALSTON of Pavenham gent.
Dated July 6, 1713.
William leaves all personal property to his loving wife Elizabeth Alstone. If she marry again, then property to her for life only and after her death to go to his heir at law.
The joint executors of will "my loving cousins Sir Thomas Alston, Bart. and John Wiseman of Bozeat co Northampton, Esq.," to each of whom he gives L5.
He leaves all his real estate to his executors who by Sale or Mortgage are to raise sufficient money to pay his debts and funeral expenses "so that my personal estate may be discharged thereof."
Then to apply rents and profits for maintainance of his children and
"for maintainance of such child or children of which my said wife is encient and which shall hereafter be born alive.
Each child (except my eldest son) to have L300 on attaining majority and to daughters on attaining majority or on day of marriage.
He mentions his "sister Tomasin now wife of Abraham Handson."
After payment of above legacies, rent of property and land are to be conveyed to eldest son William Alston and his heirs.
Proved, no date given ; but it is bound up with Wills proved in 1715.

Will of William Alston of Pavenham Gent.
Dated 6 July 1713.
In the name of God, Amen I William Alston of Pavenham in the County of Bedford, Gent being sick in body but of perfect health and understanding praise be to God I do hereby revoke all former wills by me made and declare this to be my last and will and testament in manner following. First I give and devise unto my loving wife Elizabeth Alston all and singular my goods, chattels and personal estate whatsoever wheresoever for her own proper use in case she does not marry again but if she should happen to marry again then tis my mind that she shall have only the use but not the property of my said goods and personal estate during the term of her natural life and after . . . . . the same shall go to the person who shall then be my heir-at-law and I do hereby appoint my loving cosens Sir Thomas Alston, Baronet and John Wiseman of Boziatt in the County of Northampton, Esq joint Executors of this my last will and testament and give them five pounds apiece to be paid out of my personal estate for their trouble in the execution of the trust hereby in them so posed and I do hereby give and devise unto them the said Sir Thomas Alston and John Wiseman and their heirs and assigns all and singular my messuages, lands and real estate whatsoever and wheresoever not settled in jointure upon my said wife in trust nevertheless and to the intent and purpose that they and the survivor of them and the heirs and assigns of such survivor shall by mortgage or sale of the same al such part thereof as they shall think proper in so much money as will be sufficient to pay all my debts and funeral expenses so that my personal estate may be discharged thereof and after payment there in trust to pay and apply the rents . . . . . and profits of the remainder thereof for and towards maintenance of my children which I shall leave at my death and for the maintenance of such child or children of which my said wife is now Enceinte and which shall hereafter be born alive until the portion or portions hereinafter provided for them shall respectively become payable by this my will and upon further trust that they my said executors and trustees shall by the manner aforesaid raise and pay the full sum of three hundred pounds to each of the children which I shall leave at my death (except my eldest son) and three hundred pounds to each of such child or children of which my said wife Enceinte which shall hereafter be born alive to be paid to the younger son or sons at the age of one and twenty years and the daughter or daughters at that age or days of their respective marriages which shall first happen and if any of my younger children which I shall leave at my death or which shall hereafter be born alive as aforesaid shall die before his or her portion shall be payable then such a portion of him or her so dying shall not be raised but shall sinck in the land devised for the payment thereof and upon the further trust that they my said trustees and the survivor of them shall by . . . . . aforesaid . . . . . the full sum of one hundred pounds pay the same unto such person or persons and for such intents and purposes as my sister Tomasin now the wife of Abraham Handson shall with or without the consent of her said husband direct or appoint if she shall be living at the end of two years next after my do . . . . . and if she shall be then dead to and amongst all and such of her child or children as shall be then living share and share alike and after payment of the several funds aforesaid and all costs and charges concerning the said trust then in trust to convey all the lands and possessions hereby devised aforesaid which shall not be sold for the purposes herein before directed and pay the surplus of the money raised by such sale which shall remain after payment of the several funds aforesaid to my said son William his heirs executors and administrators respectively in witness whereof I the said William Alston have to this my last Will and Testament contained in one sheet of paper I set my hand and seal this sixth day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and thirteen.
