Dr E L Fenn in a letter to E V Fenn 10 Mar 1893 says "Uncle Geo Hand has been appointed Captain of the Shannon lying in Bantry Bay, he is not at all pleased as he wanted another ship which is stationed at Harwich near his house in Dedham.

THIS IS THE LAST WILL and TESTAMENT of me GEORGE WEIGHTMAN HAND of 33 Burlington Gardens Chiswick in the County of Middlesex a Rear Admiral (retired) in His Majestys Navy I appoint my sons George Edward Basil Hand and George Sumner Hand and the Revd. Alfred Edward Alston Rector of Framlingham Earl EXECUTORS and TRUSTEES of this my Will and I bequeath to the said Alfred Edward. Alston Three hundred pounds if he shall act as such Executor and Trustee and to cover his personal expenses I desire to be buried at Kings Lynn in Norfolk I bequeath to my Godson Thomas Fenn the sum of One hundred pounds free of legacy duty I bequeath to my daughter Margaret Katherine Rosa all female jewellery that may be in my possession and all the remainder of my personal effects not being money or securities for money I bequeath to my Executors and Trustees Upon trust to divide the same equally between all my sons living at my decease and in case any difference shall arise upon such division the same shall be decided by my Executors and Trustees whose decision shall be binding upon all my sons and I trust my sons will permit their mother to have the use during her life of such furniture as she may require I give and devise to my son George Edward Basil Hand all my freehold land at Godalming and my leased property at Kentish Town and Burlington Gardens for his own use absolutely and I give and bequeath to my son George Sumner Hand my freehold house 36 Montpelier Square Knightsbridge for his own use absolutely provided that the before mentioned bequest of my leasehold property, in Burlington Gardens is subject to the right of my wife (if she shall survive me) to reside there during her widowhood and so long as she shall be willing to fulfil all the repairing covenants in the lease and pay all rates and taxes payable by the Lessee in respect thereof and shall pay to my said son George Edward Basil Hand his executors administrators or assigns rent at the rate of Forty pounds per annum by quarterly payments And all the residue of my property whatsoever and wheresoever remaining after payment thereout of my debts funeral and testamentary expenses and the before mentioned legacies I give devise and bequeath unto my said Executors and Trustees Upon trust to expend the whole annual produce thereof in or towards the maintenance and support or otherwise for the benefit of my said wife during her life and widowhood and from and after her decease or second marriage to divide the said residuary estate equally between all my children living at my decease and the issue then living of any child of mine who shall have died in my lifetime such issue taking amongst them if more than one only the share which their parent would have taken if such parent had survived me Provided always and I hereby declare that in the division of my residuary estate, my said son George Edward Basil Hand shall bring into hotchpot and account for the sum of Three thousand pounds two and a half per cent Consolidated Stock which I have recently transferred to the Trustees of his Marriage Settlement Provided also that the share of my said daughter Margaret Katherine Rosa shall be held by my Executors and Trustees upon trust to pay the whole annual produce thereof unto my said daughter Margaret Katherine Rosa during her life without power of anticipation or alienation during coverture and after her decease to transfer or divide the capital of the said share unto or equally between her child or children living at her decease and if there shall be no such child then unto such person or persons as she shall by her last Will appoint and in default of appointment then unto her brother or brothers living at her decease and if more than one in equal shares and I empower my Trustees to continue all or any part of my estate in the state of investment in which it shall be in during my life without being responsible for any loss which may arise therefrom or be occasioned thereby And I further authorise and empower them at any time during the life of my wife and after her death to sell and convert into money all or any part of my said residuary estate at such times and upon such terms as they may in their uncontrolled discretion think fit And I revoke all former Wills AS WITNESS my hand this fourth day of August One thousand nine hundred and nine - SIGNED by the said George Weightman Hand the testator in the presence of us present at the same time who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have hereunto subscribed our names as Witnesses CHAS ROBERT RIVINGTON Fenchurch Buildings GEO. George married Annie Vanderzee FENN [4] [MRIN: 2], daughter of Dr Thomas Harrold FENN M.R.C.S. [1] and Maria ALSTON [2], on 14 Nov 1866 in St James Nayland. (Annie Vanderzee FENN [4] was born on 25 Mar 1841 in Rushall WIL, baptised on 6 May 1841 in Rushall WIL, died on 27 Feb 1922 in St Lawrence Rectory Norwich and was buried in Nayland Burial Ground.)
