Robert was of some Clement Danes Westminster St Martin-in-the-Fields and Sindh and is Westminster a member of barnyard send (in Hoborn) and Gray's Inn (in High Holborn), Justice of the Peace for Middlesex, 1653, son and heir of Robert Nelson, Esq of St Dunstan's in the West, London, by his wife Helen Provost. He was admitted to Gray's Inn 11 March 1630 and mentioned in 1641 in the will of his father Robert Nelson.

Robert was supposedly related to Adml Nelson of Trafalgar

Robert left a Will proved 4 Aug 1698

Robert married Mary TEMPLE [10040] [MRIN: 9594], daughter of Sir John TEMPLE of Biddlesden BKM [3093] and Dorothy LEE [7917]. (Mary TEMPLE [10040] was baptised on 5 Aug 1623 in Stow BKM and died in 1669.)
