John Molesworth was Commissioner of the Stamp Office in 1706. He was Commissioner of Trade and Plantations between 1715 and 1720, Minister Florence, Venice and Genoa, and Envoy to Turin between 1720 and 1725.He succeeded to the title of 2nd Viscount Molesworth of Swords, co. Dublin [I., 1716] on 22 May 1725. He succeeded to the title of 2nd Lord Molesworth, Baron of Philipstown, in King's County [I., 1716] on 22 May 1725.
