Francis was of Headgate House Colchester, he was for 20 years Town Clerk of Colchester, appointed Recorder of Colchester 1787/8 (Memorial window, Town Hall), became patron of Alpheton on the death of his father 1776.

Francis married Jane Strange NORFOLK [21427] [MRIN: 7706], daughter of William NORFOLK of Cambridge [21428] and Unknown, on 26 Feb 1771 in All Saints Cambridge CAM. (Jane Strange NORFOLK [21427] was born on 28 Dec 1743, died on 21 Jun 1824 and was buried in St Michael Mile End family vault.)
