Samuel was drowned in a boating accident off the rocks known as "The Seven Sisters" in Horseshoe Bay, Port Elliot. The date is taken from his headstone.
An alternative date of the drowning is 9 Mar 1889 from "South Australians 1836 - 1885"

(Mary Anne ROBERTSON [31496] was born on 24 Dec 1849, baptised on 20 Jan 1850 in Shoreditch, London, died on 4 Aug 1920 and was buried in Enfield Sydney.)
