NSW Reports of Crime. 1 December 1856. 2 £1 notes and 13 shillings in silver (1 of the notes on the Union Bank of Australia, and the other on the Bank of New South Wales,) were stolen from Mr Alexander Vanderzee of Bathurst, between 9 and 10:00 PM on 26 November 1856, by a man called "Old Bill". He is between 56 and 60 years of age, about 5'7" high, grey hair and whiskers, stooping shoulders bandy legged, and is bald on the top of his head; he had on a pair of moleskin trousers, cabbagetree hat, and Scotch twill shirt. A warrant has been issued, and is now in the hands of the chief constable of Bathurst. Information received at this office on the 1st instant.
District of Bathurst. Vide Crime Report, 1st instant. The man called "Old Bill" who was charged with robbing Alexander Vanderzee of two £1 notes and 13 shillings in silver, on 26th of November last has been apprehended by the Western patrol. NSW Police Gazette 1856
William Jones alias William Gilbert, was charged with having stolen certain monies, the property of Alexander Vanderzee. Alexander Vanderzee, sworn; On Wednesday evening the 26th instant, I went out, leaving the prisoner at my house ; I had given him permission to stay there until such time as he could get employment; on going out, the prisoner asked me how long I should be; I said a few minutes ; on my return, about an hour afterwards, I found the door open and the prisoner gone, his swag was gone also ; on looking over the place I found my keys on the counter ; knowing that I had not left them there, I went to my desk and found that four pounds thirteen shillings, in notes and silver, had been taken away ............. William Jones alias William Gilbert, was charged with having, at Bathurst, on the 21th November, 1856, stolen certain moneys, the property of Alexander Vanderzee. The prisoner was found guilty. Sentence 12 months' imprisonment with hard labour in Parramatta gaol. Empire Sydney 15 Dec 1856
PUBLIC NOTICE. THE partnership existing as Bakers, between Duffy and Vanderzee, Rankin Street,Bathurst, has been dissolved this day, December 17th 1859. by mutual consent. Joseph Brooks aud John Wilson, alias Garnet, were charged, on remand, with coining and having coining implements in their possession. Detective Hudson stated that he had taken one of the spoons, a piece of the metal found in the melting-pot, and one of the bad half-crowns found on the prisoners to Mr. Johnson, analytical chemist, who cut a piece off each article. . . . . . They consisted almost wholly of tin,with a little copper. . . . . Alexander Vanderzee, a clerk residing in Rokeby street, Collingwood, knew the prisoners by sight. They rented a cottage from him, and he had often seen them going in and out of the house. The Age 10 Dec 1869

NOTICE is hereby given that the Sheriff of the colony of Victoria will cause to be sold by public auction, under this execution, unless previously satisfied, on Wednesday the 4th day of September 1872, at Two o'clock in the afternoon, at the Supreme Court Hotel, La Trope street east, Melbourne, The right, title, and interest (if any) of the above-named defendant in and to all that piece of land situate in the parish of Jika-jika, in the county of Bourke, being part of lots 11 and 12 in suburban section No. 53: Coin nencing at a point in the northern side of a street or road of twenty feet wide, called Glasgow street, reserved by Henry Davidson out of said allotiii( nts, which point is distant 2 chains and 90 links west from the co-tern boundary line of the said section No. 5.3, and bounded on the south by Glasgow street aforesaid, in a line bearing further west from said commencing point 27 feet 6 inches ; on the west by a line at right angles to the last line bearing north 56 feet; on the north by a line at right angles to the last ling bearing east 27 feet 6 inches ; and on the east by a line at right angles bearing south 56 feet home to the commencing point.
