Funeral of Mr C S Morris.
Retired Mining Engineer.
The funeral took place at Cheltenham Cemetery on Tuesday, of Mr Charles Smith Morris, who died at his home at Marston, Parabola Road, Cheltenham, on Saturday.
Mr Morris died somewhat suddenly at the age of 78 after having made a remarkable fight against a form of paralysis for about 12 years. Though afflicted by blindness for many years he ably carried out his duties as a mining engineer in South Wales. He came to Cheltenham, a few years ago, when he retired. Mr Morris was a partner for over 40 years in the firm of Forster Brown and Rees Cardiff and London. He was the second son of the late Mr George Byng Morris of Danygraig, Porthcawl, and a grandson of the late Mr Charles Smith of Landore.

Well-known in the Cotswolds.
He went to Cardiff in his early years and was articled to the firm of Brown and Adams, which later was known by the present name of Forster Brown and Rees. He married Miss Alston, half sister of the late Bishop Smithies, of Central Africa and Cardiff, who survives him with three daughters, Miss M T Morris, Mrs Nugee, of Radley College, near Oxford, and Mrs Orton (wife of Capt Auten, India). Their only son was killed in the war.
At one time the family lived at Farmington Lodge Northleach, and his mother as well as Mr Byng Morris, was very well known in the Cotswolds.

The simple service in the Cemetery Chapel, which preceded the interment, was conducted by the Rev A C Nugee (Vicar of Little Houghton Northhants), a nephew, who also performed the last rites.
The mourners were Mr and Mrs F J Nugee (son-in-law and daughter), Miss M T Morris (daughter), Miss Byng Morris (sister), Mrs Goodlake (sister), Mrs F Montague Lloyd (sister), Mr and Mrs Musgrave Morris (brother and sister-in-law), Major Nugee (nephew), Mr and Mrs Byng Morris (brother and sister-in-law, Basingstoke), Miss Winifred Thorn, nurse Mabley (who was with Mr Morris for six years), Miss R Peel, Mr J C Mackay, Mr Edward Horley, Mr E Breffit (Newton, Porthcawl), Miss Corbyn, Mr Edward Gibbins, and Mr Treharne Rees, Mr W Forster Brown and Mr A E Morgan (representing the firm to which Mr Morris formerly belonged).
Mrs Shire and Haddon's, Cheltenham, conducted the funeral arrangements.

Estate of Mr C S Morris.
Mr Charles Smith Morris, of Marston Parabola Road, Cheltenham, formerly of Llandaff House, Llandaff, Cardiff, retired mining engineer, late partner in Messrs, Forster Brown and Rees, of Cardiff and London, who died on May 27 last aged 78 years, left gross estate of the value of £59,013 0s 2d with net personality £54,531 1s 8d.
Mrs Maude Mary Morris (widow), and Miss Mabel Travers Morris (daughter), both of the above address, and Mr Edward Horley, of 14, Pembroke Terrace, Cardiff, solicitor, are the executors. Testator left £1000 to his wife; £4000 in trust for each of his daughters, Mabel Travers Morris, Daisy Emily Smith Austen and Lucy Maude Nugee; £1000 to his daughter Mabel on her marriage.
