Of Broome House, only son and heir. Received into the Church 20th July 1756 at Little Wittenham. Educated at Eton and at St. John's College, Cambridge: B.A. 1778
Was for 50 years a Commissioner of Dover Harbour.
Died aged 82 Will proved January 1839.

TABLET IN BARHAM CHURCH .
To the Memory of Sir Henry Oxenden , Baronet , of Broome , in this Parish .
This Tablet is raised by his Sons and Daughters , who bear in mind his affectionate kindness , and that singular benevolence of heart which won for him the love of the Poor and the esteem and regard of all .
He died peacefully , Sept. 22nd , 1838 , Aged 82 years .
And near him , in the adjoining Vault , repose the remains of his beloved Wife , Mary Lady Oxenden .
" The hoary head is a crown of glory , if it be found in the way of righteousness ." Proverbs 16 , verse 31 .

Very interesting rcollections of Oxenden by a Steward, and the report on his funeral with Duke of Wellington taking an important role. Rev Robert Mayne who was a brother in law in one of the leading coaches.
