Capt William John 9th Baron NAPIER of Merchiston [14807]

  General Notes:

Capt Napier fought in the Battle of Trafalgar. He succeeded to the title of 9th Lord Napier of Merchistoun on 1 August 1823, to the title of 6th Baronet Scott, of Thirlestane on 1 August 1823. He held the office of Representative Peer [Scotland] between 1824 and 1832, and held the office of Lord of the Bedchamber to King William IV.
He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Royal Navy and was Special Trade Commissioner and Chief Resident of Canton, China in 1833.

William married Eliza COCHRANE-JOHNSTONE [14808] [MRIN: 5248], daughter of Col Hon Andrew James COCHRANE-JOHNSTONE [21755] and Lady Georgina HOPE-JOHNSON [21756], on 26 Mar 1816. (Eliza COCHRANE-JOHNSTONE [14808] was born on 26 Dec 1794 in Abercorn Linlithgowshire SCT and died on 6 Jun 1883 in Avenel , Vic.)
