THE WILL OF PHILADELPHIA VANDERZEE OF BILLERICAY.
Dated 12 July 1824.
Philadelphia Vanderzee of Billericay in the parish of Gt Burstead in the County of Essex spinster being of good sound and disposing mind memory and understanding thanks to God for the same do make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following (that is to say)
I give and devise unto my sister Mary Hand the wife of the Rev John Staples Hand of Billericay aforesaid Clerk all that my Copyhold Messuage or Tenement wherein I now reside in Billericay aforesaid in the Parish of Gt Burstead aforesaid with the garden and premises thereto belonging it to hold unto the said Mary Hand upon trust to and for the sole and only use and benefit of my said sister Mary Hand and Ann the wife of George Alston of Nayland Suffolk Esq. for ever as tenants in common and not as joint tenants.
I give and bequeath unto Margaret Alston and Samuel Alston the children of the said George & Mary1 Alston and to John Hand a son of the said John Staples Hand and Mary Hand the sum of L100 each which I direct my Executor hereinafter named to pay within 6 months after my decease or upon there attaining the age of 21 years.
As to all my and every my household furniture plate wearing apparel monies securities and all my personal estate and effects I give and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto and amongst equally divided between Marian Vanderzee and Lucy Vanderzee daughters of my brother George Vanderzee and Maria Hand daughter of my said sister Mary Hand and to Maria Alston a daughter of the said George & Mary1 Alston to hold the same share and share alike to be paid to them respectively on there attaining the age of twenty one years or the day of their marriage
And I do hereby make nominate constitute and appoint the said John Staples Hand sole Executor of this my Will . . . . . to which I set my hand and seal this twelfth
day July 1824

1. The transcriber considers Mary to be an error in the origional transcription, as Margaret, Samuel and Maria Alston are the children of George and Anne Vanderzee, not George and Mary Creek ?.
