Vicar General's Office John VANDERZEE, Widower Decr 4th 1772 Which day appeared personally John Vanderzee and made oath that he hath had his usual abode for the space of four Weeks last past in the Parish of St Mary Hill London that he is a Widower and intendeth to Marry with Ann Stubbs of the same Parish a Widow. Not knowing or believing any Impediment by reason of any Precontract Consanguinity Affinity or any other cause whatsoever to hinder the said intended marriage and he prayed a licence for them to be married in the Parish Church of St Mary Hill aforesaid. Colchester April 4 Laft Monday died at Nayland, Mr John Vanderzee, late of London, attorney. The Ipswich Journal Saturday, 5 April 1777.
A brass by the Font in Nayland Church reads " On the right side of this stone lieth the body of John van der Zee late of Farnivall's Inn Attorney at Law who died the. . . . . day of March 177. aged . . . years". Not found 1999.
