A short time afterwards the "Hockey Field" offered another prize for the best essay on the subject and this time the prize was awarded to Miss Muriel Julius.

Dear Cousin George
My mother, Mrs Florence Stevens, has handed over to me your letter, and the Julius genealogy, so that I may endeavour to answer it. I am nothing of a genealogist compared with my mother, and though at times I have tried to work it up, I fear I get rather mixed up, and forget, but I have my mother's book.
I propose to answer as best I can the points in your letter of January 31, 1935 and also, to copy (I am afraid this can only be done slowly) my mother's book and notes, and send it to you. I hardly like to risk sending the original.
My mother has collected her information from very varying sources, during her long life. She is now 89 and her eyesight failing, and most regretfully she is obliged to give up this hobby.
Now to answer your questions - writes several pages of details now in this record, Christine continues.
My mother asks me to let you know, that Lady Layard (Ada) died this year, also her sister Minnie Julius, the last of a generation of that family. Also, Stanley's widow Jeanette Julius. I do hope there may (sic) some useful information that you need. The copying I propose to do will be done slowly, and I will send as I can from time to time, say 10 pages at a time. Also, it may be well to put it in my own notes or comments in red ink.
Yrs very sincerely
Christine L. Stevens
P.S. I believe, for a sum, almost any will can be procured, or copied. My brother Alfred Julius Stephens, who is a solicitor, could tell me how to do this, but as a rule it is a matter of cost.
The Genealogical Society in London is helpful, but one has to be a member. My mother joined for a time, but gave up as she was too old to make use of it. I expect I could find out terms of membership if you would care for them? I am afraid I am too much tied just at present to manage anything along that line. Otherwise church registers, deeds, Wills and old family records, as I expect you know well
