  General Notes:

He was admitted to the Inner Temple 14 nov 1710 but there is no record of his being called to the Bar. However, the Inner Temple admission records note that he was the son and heir apparent of John Hand, arrtiiger (the right to bear arms) of Bristol, Gloucestershire (!)
There is a marriage record of a John Hand and Mary Sainsbury in Bristol 25 dec 1758
The Oxford Alumni entry for his son records that he was the son of John Hand of Wick, Dorset. There was no Wick in Dorset at the time (see notes for his son) however I have found a Wyke, Bradford Abbas, Dorset, but no information on the Hand family there, and another Wick near Langport, Somerset. A newspaper for 12114 June 1747 reports John Hand Esq. the eminent Attorney at Law died in his bed at his home at Austin Fryars, Greenwich.
A John Hand was buried at St Luke's, Woolwich - the tombstone inscription reads 'Here lieth the body of John Hand, Gent who died the 28 oct 1747 and was interred in this place in his 66th year' (b1681) Was the date of death an error or was this another John Hand ?
