THE WILL OF HENRY ALSTON OF POLSTEAD.
Dated 13 Jul 1615
In the name of God Amen.
The Thirteene daie of Julye and in the yeare of the Reigne of our sovereigne Lord Kinge James of England ffrance and Ireland the Thirteene and of Scottland the fortie-eight.
I Henrye Alston of Poulsted in the Countie of Suff. Clothier beinge sicke in Bodie but of good and pfectt memorye thankes be to God therfore doe ordaine my last will and Testament in manner and forme followinge.
First I comend my Sowle to Almightie God from whom I
1615. receyved yt and to Jesu Christ my Redemer and Savior and I leave my bodie to be bestowed in Christian Buriall, against the
Daie of the blessed resurrection.
Item I gyve and bequeath to my dawghter Elizabeth fyftie Shillinges of lawful money of England to be paid to the said Elizabeth by the handes of myne Executrice or her Assignes either of the daie of her marriage, or at the age of one and Twentie yeares wchsoever shall come fyrst.
Item I gyve to my sonne Thomas Alstone the som of fyftie Shillings of Lawful money of England to be paid to the said Thomas by the handes of myne Executrice or her assignes at the Age of one and Twentie yeares, and if yt happen that eyther of them shall depart this lyfe before the tyme afore lymitted, Then I will that the over lyver shalbe the others heire.
Item I gyve and bequeath to Elizabeth my wife my nowe dwellinge howse scituate and lyinge in Poulsted aforesaid wth the appurtences during her natural lyfe and after the decease of the said Elizabeth I will that the said howse wth the yard and orchard Shall remaynge to Thomas my Sonne afore said and to the heires of his bodie lawfully begotten
Item I will that my sonne Thomas Alston shall gyve to
my dawghter Elizabeth yf She then lyve, tenne poundes of lawful money of England to be paid her in tenne yeares by Equal porcons But yf the said Thomas Dye with oute lawful heires, Then I will that the said howse and tenement wth the appurtenances aforesaid shall remayne to my Dawghter Elizabeth and to the heires of her Bodie lawfully begotten.
The rest of my goods and moveables unbequeathed I gyve and bequeath to Elizabeth my wife to the payment of my Debtes,
and the Decent buryall of my Bodie and ye true performance of this my last will and Testament whereof I ordaine and
appoint my wife Elizabeth aforesaid to be the sole and only Executrix.
Witnesses at the ensealing hereof, Henrye Alston, Jeems Smythe, Willm Boggys,
Proved 2nd Novr. 1615.
