My mother, Kathleen Annie Agnes May HYDE, did not like the Annie Agnes, and only used KAAM where a full legal name was required. She used the oral name Kay May Barker and the signature K May Barker.
She had four brothers, the eldest a deck officer who died on a sailing ship lost at sea. His picture hung in a prominent place in the family home and as a young child I sensed that the family never fully came to terms with his loss.
There were four daughters where Mum was the third eldest, a big family with eight children in total.
Not as big as the BARKER family with six girls and four boys for a total of ten children.
Big families were normal in those days.

Kathleen married Thomas Lynford "Johnny" BARKER [669] [MRIN: 207], son of Thomas Lugg Mankey BARKER [634] and Alice Catherine "Lal" JOHNSON [635], in 1930 in NZ. (Thomas Lynford "Johnny" BARKER [669] was born on 28 Feb 1889 in Wellington NZ, died in 1957 in Wellington NZ and was cremated on 8 Jun 1957 in Karori Cemetery Wellington.)
