General Notes:
Wymering. The village of Wymering presented a scene of unusual gaiety on Tuesday last, the occasion being the wedding of Maj La Touche of Delgany, County Wicklow, to Miss E Cecilia La Touche, daughter of the late George La Touche, Esq, and granddaughter of the late Col David and Lady Cecilia La Touche, County Carlow. The marriage service was performed by the Rev George Nugee, Vicar of Wymering, and uncle to the bride. The Revds Eusebius Cleaver and J D Plow assisted at the service, which was choral, and performed in accordance with High Church custom. At the conclusion of the marriage ceremony the Holy Communion was administered. The bride was given away by her brother, David La Touche, Esq, 30th Regiment, and was attended by eight bridesmaids, viz: Miss Digby Seymour, the Misses Stewart, the Misses Bernard, Miss Mary Richards, Miss M Bowen, and Miss M Street. After the whole service had been concluded, the friends of the bride and bridegroom partook of dejeuner, served in a temporary Pavilion erected for the occasion on the lawn of Wymering House. Amongst the guests we noticed the Marquess of Londonderry, Lady Packenham and Mrs Thistlethwayte, Lady and Misses Blackwood, the Hon Mrs J Denman, the Hon the Misses Hewitt, Col and Mrs Adair, Mrs G La Touche (the mother of the bride), Miss La Touche of Bellevue, County Wicklow, C La Touche, Esq, D La Touche, Esq, Mrs Andrew Nugee and family, Ralph Bernard, Esq, Mrs Richards, of Farlington, Prof and Mrs Main, J Burrell, Esq, Capt and Mrs C Burrell, Capt and Mrs Figou, Mrs Bowen, R Bowen, Esq, (Rifles), the Rev Mr Allen, Rev Mr Plow, Rev Mr Cleaver, Rev Mr Platt, Miss Parkinson, of Brighton, Miss Warburton, J Kane, Esq, and others. In the evening a banquet was also served to upwards of 300 of the parishioners of Wymering and Widley, and of the adjoining neighbourhood. The scene was enlivened by the admirable performance of the band of the East Suffolk Artillery, and also by the excellent village band recently established at Cosham.
