7 Aug 1851 This is the last codicil and Testament of me James Harmer of Ingress Park in the County of Kent . . . . . I give and bequeath to David Thomas Alston2 Ellen his wife and James Harmer Alston the son the sum of five thousand pounds which I direct may be invested in their joint names in the government funds the interest to be applied to the education of the said David Harmer Alston during his minority and the principal shall become the property of the survivor of the three I give to each of the daughters of the said David Thomas Alston the sum of one hundred pounds . . . . . All other wills heretofore made are revoked.
6 Jan 1852. This is a codicil to the Will of me James Harmer of Ingress Park Kent Esq dated the 7th day of August last . . . . . . . . . . I give to Ellen the wife of David Thomas Alston an annuity for her life of £300 to be paid to her quarterly for the separate use and her sole receipt and so that she shall not anticipate or incumber the same or any part thereof.
