Research Notes:
William worked on the family property at Kunopia during his young life, and became a noted horseman of the area. He acquired a horse team and was engaged in carting to and from the rail head, in 1904, he married Elizabeth McGregor at Kunopia. In 1905 he drew the property Lochvale, 16 miles down river from Mungindi. He and Elizabeth moved there to live. The horse team was carried on as a separate enterprise Bill Allison bred horses (hack and draft) and some who come to mind were "Tilly", a champion hack and winner in Sydney, ridden by Archie Treweeke, and "Monty" who competed in Hunts until 27 years old. Stock horse stallion included Lord Fontleroy ( French ), Ike Deen ( Welsh), and race horses, including Sir Daniel Lingle (2nd in 1918 Melbourne Cup), along with Clydesdale Stallions, " Captain Dan " and " King Ton. William and Elizabeth had 11 children these being: Anna, Agnes, Hugh, Francis, Douglas, Jessie, Duncan, Arnott, Juanita, Sheila and Lloyd. On the sale of Lockvale ( in 1923 ) a house was purchased in St. George Street, Mungindi, in order to provide some schooling for the children, who at this stage, had received virtually no education except for the occasional governess and what their mother could provide. William Allison passed away in 1947, at the age of 74. His son, Doug, was appointed Sole Executor and the Estate was carried on for 30 years Ref: Doug Allison - From the History of Mungindi
