OBITUARY MRS. C. NIXON Mrs. Charles Nixon, who would have celebrated her 90th birthday in September, died suddenly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. D. Kennedy, at Tyagarah yesterday after noon. She was discharged from Lismore Base Hospital yesterday, and was in bright spirits - on the trip to Tyagarah. However, shortly after ar rival, she collapsed and died about 10 minutes later. Mrs. Nixon had been staying with another daughter, Mrs. R. King, of Byron Bay, but when the latter was injured in an accident recently her mother was removed to hospital. She was baptised Charles, after a favorite uncle in Scotland, which country she left at the age of seven. She travel led to Australia with her parents on the Forest Monarch on which a mutiny occurred because the seamen were supplied with bad pork. The family stayed at Tumut, where she grew up and married the late Mr. F. D. Nixon. After seven years they moved tc the Tweed District,, being among the early pioneers. The family's place of residence alternated between Queens land and N.S.W., but they finally settled at Byron Bay where Mr. Nixon died 15 years ago. Members of the family who survive are Mesdames McDonald 'Port Kembla), Kennedy ' (Tyagarah ), Layton (Byron. Bay), King (Byron Bay), Morrison (Sydney), and Messrs. Frederick, George and Louis Nixon, Queensland. One daughter, Mrs. Campbell, of Perth, died some cune ago. There are more than 50 grand children and great grandchildren. The funeral will leave the residence of Mrs. Kennedy at 1.30 p.m. to-day for the Presbyterian portion of the Mullumbimby cemetery.
