Mary Knottesford's father was John Knottesford of Holdfast in Worcestershire. John's sister, Eleanor Knottesford, is my direct ancestor. She married an Edward Barnes and had a son John Barnes, who was a Major-General in the Royal Artillery. He was stationed in Quebec for a long time and had a daughter there, whose descendants eventually came to the U.S.
