Personal Notes From London.
The majority of weddings taking place in these days are characterised by the " service" element, and several khaki ceremonies have lately been solemnised that have been of New Zealand interest. At All Souls' Church, Langham Place, on October 11, the marriage took place of Captain R. B. Neill, Royal Irish Fusiliers, fourth son of Mr P. C. Neill, of Chingford, Dunedin, to Miss Katharine Gertrude Sinclair Thomson, only daughter of Mr and Mrs Sinclair Thomson, of The Crossing, Geraldine. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. C. H. Ritchie (also of Dunedin), chaplain, R.N., who is attached to H.M.S. Donegal. Mr Sinclair Thomson gave his daughter away. The bridal dress was of soft mole-coloured chiffon, finished with soft fur trimmings. Her hat was of pale pink, and her bouquet was of delicately tinted pink Miss Winifred Roberts, cousin of the bride, was in attendance, and Lieutenant-colonel Meares, of the Royal Irish Fusiliers, was best man. Other brother officers of the bridegroom's regiment present were Captain Wright, Captain O'Neill, and Captain Hennessey. The reception was held at the residence of the bride's uncle, Sir St. Clair Thomson, 64 Wimpolo street. Later in the afternoon Captain and Mrs R. B. Neill left by motor car on a trip to Devonshire, the bride wearing a travelling costume of dark blue gaberdine and a small blue toque. The future home of the bride and bridegroom is to be in New Zealand, but this, of course, cannot be until the conclusion of the war.
