More Information: Adm. pens. at ST JOHN'S, July 7, 1836. Of Rutland. [S. of the Rev. Brownlow Villiers (above).] School, Stamford (Mr Gretton). Matric. Michs. 1836; Scholar. At St Bees, 1842-3. Ord. deacon, 1843; priest, 1844. Chaplain of Trinity House almshouses, Mile End, Middlesex, 1849-58. Presented in 1855 to the P.C. of Escot, Devon, by Sir John Kenneway, but the Bishop of Exeter thought him unsound on baptismal regeneration and refused to induct him. Petitions on his behalf to both Houses of Parliament were abortive. V. of Mayfield, Staffs., 1858. V. of St John's, Wembley, Middlesex, 1858-71. C. of Christ Church, Ramsgate, 1872-3. R. of Combe-Hay, Somerset, 1873-84. C. of Winsley, Wilts., 1884-9. Married (1) June 3, 1847, Sarah, dau. of S. J. Somes, of Stratford Green, Essex; (2) July 4, 1888, Madeline, dau. of H. Hill. Resided subsequently at Bath, where he died Nov. 1, 1895, aged 78. Father of Clement V. (1868) and George S. (1876); half-brother of John T. (1841).
