John was Capt of the Barque "Tenasserim" bound from Calcutta to Mauritius when he was washed overboard and drowned of the Indian Coast.

John married Margery SHAW [19693] [MRIN: 7168], daughter of Israel SHAW [21246] and Hannah PEARSON [21250], on 10 Oct 1853 in Sydney NSW Australia. (Margery SHAW [19693] was born on 3 Dec 1831 in Leeds YKS, baptised on 1 Jan 1832 in St Peter Leeds YKS, died on 19 Jun 1910 in 64 Bellevue St Glebe Sydney NSW Australia and was buried in St Jude Randwick NSW.). The cause of her death was bronchitis.
