Mrs George S Chabot and son Charles, will leave for Liverpool, England, on the 16th, and upon their return will remain in New York for some time on a visit to friends. Ref: San Antonio The Light 12 November 1887.
Obituary. Mrs Chabot Buried Here. Private funeral services were held Thursday afternoon for Mrs Mary Van Derlip Chabot 86 at the family residence 403 Madison Street, conducted by the Rev Sam Capers rector of St Paul's Episcopal Church. Mrs Chabot died Wednesday morning after a residence in San Antonio of nearly 60 years. She was a native of Gonzales and came with her parents Mr and Mrs David Campbell Van Derlip to San Antonio in 1844. She was educated at Ursuline convent and was married December 3, 1863 to George S Chabot then British consular officer in Mexico. After ten years residence in Mexico the Chabot family removed to San Antonio in 1873. She was one of the organisers of St Paul's Episcopal Church and was one of the founders of the Protestant Orphans home. She was also a member of the Texas Women's Press association and contributed poetry to a number of newspapers and magazines. Mrs Chabot is survived by her sister, Mrs Adello Van Derlip of this city, two sons, George A Chabot, and Charles J Chabot and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Bequest Given to Servant by Will. Patsy Fields, former servant of Mrs Mary V Chabot, who died in November, will receive $5 a month during her lifetime, according to the terms of Mrs Chabot's will. Mrs Chabot left an estate of more than $1000 which will be given to her sons, George a Chabot, and Charles J Chabot, and a grandson Frederick C Chabot. Mary Lee Chabot a granddaughter, will receive the jewels worn by her grandmother. Ref: 19 December 1929 San Antonio The Light.
