ALGERNON HOLLAND Captain Seaplane Station, Royal Air Force who died on Saturday, 21st September 1918. Age 28. He was son of Arthur and Amy Holland, of Horsham, Sussex; husband of Helen Ruth Holland, of Quinta Rannock, San Fernando, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

He was with 249 Sqn. RAF and was "Kwf" = accidently killed while flying, non-operational duties.

Captain A Holland, 2AM (air mechanic) FE Wilson & 2AM E Marriot all killed, and 2Lt FI Atkins injured when Curtiss H16 "Large America" Flying boat serial N4070 hit a ship's mast on the river Tay, crashed and burst into flames on the 21st September 1918. 249 squadron RAF was formed at Dundee in Scotland on the 18th August 1918.

Capt. A Holland, AMII E Marriott and AMII F E Wilson, 249 Sqn. Kwf in Curtiss H-16 N4070 with 2Lt F J Atkins who was injured, UK. Further, according to Ray Sturtivant's and Gordon Page's "Royal Navy Aircraft Serials and Units 1911-1919", the aircraft joined 249 Sqn on 20 August, 1918. "Hit ship's mast on River Tay, crashed and burst into flames", and gives the casualty information above.
