Admirals Wife Delighted.
Mrs Sheila Torlesse, wife of Admiral Torlesse, heard the news of the atom explosion on the 9 am BBC news bulletin at her Gosport home. She told a reporter "I was delighted to hear the news at last. It has been a long and anxious time waiting for it, and I am so glad and relieved to hear that the test has been successful. Of course I have had plenty of letters from my husband, but no mention of the bomb"
