Catherine returned to England after her husbands death and looked after her father-in-law Dr Geo C Julius, her brother-in-law Edric, cousin Julia Quilter and Ella.

PERSONAL NOTES FROM LONDON.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) LONDON, 15th December. . . . . . The death was announced the day before yesterday of Mrs. Katherine Robertson Julius, relict of the late Mr. Reginald Julius, of Rugged Ridges, New Zealand. The deceased lady passed away on the 9th inst. at Claremont House, Tilford, Surrey. She was in her 63rd year.

THIS IS THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT of me KATHERINE ROBERTSON JULIUS of Claremont House Tilford in the County of Surrey Widow
I appoint Arthur Onslow Julius of 15 Finsbury Circus in the City of London Esquire and my daughter Ethel Kate Julius (hereinafter called "trustees") to be the EXECUTORS and trustees of this my will
I devise and bequeath all my real and personal estate unto my trustees Upon trust to permit the said Ethel Kate Julius so long during her life as she shall remain a spinster and unmarried to use and, enjoy all my furniture plate linen pictures books china and other household effects or such of them as she may select my trustees not to be in any way responsible for their safety or liable for any loss or damage which may happen to them and subject thereto Upon trust to sell call in and convert into money my said real and personal estate cr such part thereof as shall not consist of money and thereout to pay my funeral and testamentary expenses and debts and to invest the residue thereof and stand possessed of the residuary trust moneys and the investments for the time being representing the same hereinafter called my trust estate Upon trust to pay to my said daughter Ethel Kate Julius or permit her to receive the income thereof so long during her life as she shall remain a spinster and unmarried and from and after her death or marriage (which shall first happen) Upon trust as to both capital and income for my two daughters the said Ethel Kate Julius and Edith Ella Maud York the wife of Oliver Kinnaird York in equal shares And whereas under the will of my late-father in law George Charles Julius I have a power of.appointment over a moiety of his real and residuary personal estate in favour of any one or more of the chi)dren of my late husband and myself exclusively of the others or other of them Now therefore in exercise of such power I do hereby appoint that such moiety and the income thereof shall be held and applied Upon trust for my, said daughter Ethel Kate Julius so long during her life as she shall remain a spinster and unmarried and from and after her death or marriage (which shall first happen) Upon trust for her and my said daughter Edith Ella Maud York in equal shares I declare that my trustees shall have full discretion-ary power to permit any part of my personal estate to remain in the same state of investment as the same shall be at the time of my death for such period as my trustees shall from time to time think fit and otherwise to postpone for such period as my trustees shall from time to time deem expedient the getting in or conversion into money of any part of my personal estate whether producing income or not or by its nature wasting or liable to waste destruction or diminution or not and notwithstanding any alterations which may from time to time be made in the nature state terms or conditions of any security or investment upon which any part of such estate may be invested I direct my trustees to invest all money coming to the hands of my trustees by virtue of my will and not immediately distributable under the trusts hereof in the names of my trustees in any of the public stocks or funds or Government securities of the United Kingdom or India or any Colony or Dependency of the United Kingdom or upon the stocks funds or securities of any Foreign Government or Dependency the principal or interest of which last mentioned stocks funds or securities shall be guaranteed by the Government of'the United Kingdom or upon freehold copyhold or leasehold securities in England or Wales but not in Ireland such leaseholds if for years having not less than sixty years unexpired at the times of the investments thereon respectively or in or upon the stocks debenture stocks debentures mortgages securities or fully paid up shares (but not other shares) of any corporation company or public body municipal commercial or otherwise in the United Kingdom or India or any Colony or Dependency of the United Kingdom but not in any other mode of investment with power to change any investments from time to time for any other or others of the kinds authorised and to release any part of the property comprised in any mortgage security if satisfied that the remaining property is sufficient security for the money owing thereon I declare that in addition to the powers authorities and right of indemnity given by law to trustees my trustees may decide whether any money shall be considered income or capital for the purposes of the trusts and may settle all questions which may arise in or about the exercise of the trusts or incidentally thereto and generally may act in relation to my estate as absolutely as if they were beneficial owners thereof and that my trustees instead of acting personally may employ and pay a solicitor or any other person to transact any business or do any act including the receipt and payment of money and any trustee who may be engaged in any profession or business may be so employed as aforesaid and shall be entitled to charge and be paid all professional and other charges for any business or act done by him or his firm including acts which a trustee could have done personally and that no trustee shall be answerable or responsible for any loss which may happen in or about the carrying out and exercise of the trusts and powers of my will or any codicil hereto and which shall not be attributable to actual fraud committed by the trustee to be charged therewith

(Reginald JULIUS [787] was born on 19 Nov 1835 in Ireland, baptised on 8 Feb 1836 in St Mary Magdalen Richmond SRY and died on 2 Sep 1871 in Oamaru New Zealand.). The cause of his death was haematemesis (Vomiting blood) and epileptic convulsions.
