Elizabeth Gill Liveing kept house for her uncle Captain Saunders R.N. Commander of the R. . . . . Cutter Argus (who picked up Major Money in his balloon - he had one leg).
Captain Saunders was a fine genteel looking man rubicund he was terribly addicted to swearing and getting into a passion when he would take off his wig throw it on the ground and stamp on it. He married Martha daughter of Robert Liveing, sister of Captain Thomas Liveing, her father gave them a farm at Wheatley Essex for a . . . . . tion and Captain Saunders left it back to Captain Thomas Liveing at his death.

Sacred to the memory of Nathanial Saunders the Commander of H M Packet King George died one of the Capital Burgesses of this Borough. He died on his passage from Gothenberg to England September 9, 1809 in the 37th year of his age. He left a wife and (4) children to bemoan his loss.

John died January 26, 1776 aged 2.
William died July 27, 1781 aged 11.
James died February 22, 1794 aged 17.
Martha wife of John Saunders, many years Cmdr of his Majesty's revenue Argus and one of the Capital Burgesses of this Borough, who died August 8, 1797 aged 43.

Also of the above Captain John Saunders who died January 27, 1811 aged 63.

John married Martha LIVEING (LIVEN) [6255] [MRIN: 2083], daughter of Robert LIVEING [427] and Sarah HEARN [428], on 28 Nov 1780 in St Nicholas Harwich ESS. (Martha LIVEING (LIVEN) [6255] was born about 1754, baptised on 14 Jan 1755 in Harwich ESS, died on 8 Aug 1797 and was buried in Harwich Churchyard.)
