In the time of Edward III.(1312-1377) HUGH ALSTON bore the arms Azure, ten estoiles or., four, three, two, one. This was long before coat armour was granted by patent ?.
An Alston/Alliston village was incorporated into Trimley St Martins in 1362. Alston Hall still exists and can be seen on Google Maps. In the domesday as Alteinestuna, the name Alston/Alliston must have been attributed at a later date. Ref: Mark Alliston
