Will of Richard Alston 10 June 1815.
I Richard Alston the elder of West Bergholt in the County of Essex brickmaker revoke all Wills and testamentary dispositions by me heretofore made and declare this to be my last Will and testament I direct that all the just debts which I may owe at my decease my funeral expenses and the costs of Proving this my Will may be paid with all convenient speed after my decease out of my personal estate I give to my dear wife Mary Alston the use of all my household goods and furniture and of the fixtures in my house for the term of her life And I give and devise to my said wife my Messuage or dwelling house in West Bergholt and 1 acre more or less of and thereto belonging situate near the same and all other my real estate and residuary personal property whatsoever To hold the same to my said wife for and during the term of her natural life And from and immediately after the decease of my said wife I give and bequeath the sum of L30 which is now due to me from my said son Richard Alston unto my said son Richard and my sons Lawson and Joseph to be equally divided between them And from the decease of my said wife I give and devise my said Messuage dwellinghouse land and all other my real estate whatsoever unto and to the use of my said sons Richard and Lawson their heirs and assigns for ever to be equally divided between them as tenants in common and not as joint tenants And from the decease of my said wife I give and bequeath unto my said sons Richard and Lawson my said household goods fixtures in the said house and all other my personal property not heretofore by me otherwise disposed of to be equally divided share and share alike I appoint my said sons Richard and Lawson executors of this my Will And declare that the reason I have not given more of than the L10 to my said son Joseph is that I consider that he has been already duly provided for And in testimony of this sheet of paper containing my last Will and Testament I have hereunto set my hand and seal the tenth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen.

Signed sealed published and declared by the said Richard Alston the testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses

Proved on the twenty eighth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty pending the Episcopal Visitation etc by the oath of Richard Alston the son and one of the executors to whom administration etc was granted he being first sworn duly to administer. Power being reserved of making the like grant to Lawson Alston another son and the other executor when he shall lawfully apply for the same.
