"Francis Downing" was admitted by Patrimony of the Skinners Coy on 21 April 1621, as his father John Downing, was already a member of the Skinners' Company at the time of his birth.
Francis is thought to have emigrated to Virginia America in 1625, but he took on his nephew John, son of William Smith and Dorothy Downing as an apprentice on 24 Mar 1629. He thus must have moved to Virginia later.
