Annie and Walter Best a Customs Officer were, introduced by Thomas Wood Capt of the Woodlark.
I quote my beloved Agnes Cameron Fairburn wife of my second cousin Adrian Hopkins now in her 94th Year (2023).
"A note about my mother's family. I thought that I would add a little piece. On arrival in Wellington, my grand father said to the customs man, one William Best, "You're not married, are you ? I have a beautiful girl on board" (Girls were in short supply, at that time), and managed to get my grandmother's older sister hitched up.
We are still in touch with the Bests, now in Australia."
