Special Pleader; on the Norfolk Circuit and Leicester and Northampton Sessions. For some years editor of John Bull. Author, Verse and Prose Translations, published after his death by C. H. Prowett, Charles Gibbs (1816-74) b. Topcroft, Norfolk, son of the rector. Educated at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, appointed a fellow and lecturer. Called to the bar, 1847. He became a journalist for 10 years, owning and editing John Bull. Died accidentally from a kick by a dray horse.
