John was apprenticed for 7 yrs to the printers Price and Gregory in Leicester. Then into partnership with John George Barnard in London in 1803, at 21. Barnard & Sultzer's printing office was in Water Lane, City of London, virtually opposite Red Lion Court, Fleet Street, the site of John Nichols' publishing house.
