The Will of John BROOKE. Ref: MF/R0325/4 folio 144 from Norfolk Record Office, March 2001 In the name of god Amen, this last day of January in the year of Our Lord Christ according to the customs of the Church of England one thousand six hundred and fifty four I John Brooke the Older of the City of Norwich, gent. Although being weak of body yet of sound and perfect memory, God be praised, therefore revoking all other and former wills and testaments I now make and declare this my last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say first of all I willingly render and give into the hands of my Lord God my Creator my spirit who of his lasting goodness gave unto me not doubting but hoping assuredly of the only words of Jesus Christ my Savior

Item I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Sibball Brooke one hundred pounds to be paid unto her within one year after my death Item I give unto my son John Brooke one hundred pounds to be paid within one year after my death Item I give unto the same John Brooke my son twenty pounds a year during the term of his natural life to be paid five pounds a quarter and the first payment to begin 3 months after my death Item I give unto Rose Brooke my grand child daughter of John Brooke my son fifty pounds to be paid unto her at the age one and twenty years Item I give and bequeath unto my grand child John Brooke four hundreds to be paid unto him at the age of one and twenty years Item I give and bequeath unto Jeremy Brooke three hundred pounds to be paid unto him at the age of one and twenty years. Item I give and bequeath unto Sibball Brooke, Mary Brooke, Thomasine Brooke, Rose Brooke daughters of William Brooke my son fifty pounds apiece to be paid unto them at the age of one and twenty years apiece. Item I give and bequeath unto Edward Norris my son-in-law twenty pounds Item I give and bequeath unto Anne Norris, Thomasine Norris, John Norris, Jeremy Norris, Edward Norris my grand children fifty pounds apiece attaining the ages of one and twenty years apiece Item I give and bequeath unto Elizabeth Norris my grandchild fifty pounds at her age of fifteen years my will and my mind is that if Anne Norris, Thomasine Norris, John Norris, Jeremy Norris, Edward Norris or any of them shall depart this life before they shall attain to their several ages of one and twenty years apiece then I give the
