Septuagesima Sunday, 19th January. 1913, was a memorable day in the history of the Parochial District of Tauranga. . . . . . The Bishop appointed the Rev. Eric Dudley Rice, who arrived in Tauranga by the Ngapuhi on Friday last. As the Bishop had to be present at the meeting of the General Synod in Nelson on Thursday, it was impossible for him to institute Mr Rice himself and in his absence, the Ven. Archdeacon Tisdall, Archdeacon of Tauranga inducted Mr Rice on Sunday at 11 a.m. in the Church of the Holy Trinity, Tauranga. . . . . .

Eric married Adelaide Maud SAMUEL [14556] [MRIN: 5170], daughter of Edward SAMUEL [15248] and Unknown, on 24 Jun 1914 in Holy Trinity Tauranga NZ. (Adelaide Maud SAMUEL [14556] was born about 1887 and died in 1954.)
