Hon Alan Reginald BOYLE [1370]

  General Notes:

Alan was an Officer in the Royal Flying Corps, and a brother of the Earl of Glasgow.

He was educated at Haileybury College, Haileybury, Hertfordshire, EnglandG. He was founder of the Scottish Aeroplane Syndicate in 1909 and produced the first British-built monoplane, the Avis. He fought as a Lieutenant, in Royal Scots Fusiliers World War I, where he was mentioned in despatches. He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Royal Air Force and was awarded the Air Force Cross (A.F.C.) in 1919.

Alan married Isabel Julia HULL [1369] [MRIN: 429], daughter of Edmund Charles Pendleton HULL [935] and Fanny Maria JULIUS [934], on 5 Feb 1916 in SRY. (Isabel Julia HULL [1369] was born on 28 Mar 1893 in Redhill SRY, baptised on 16 May 1893 in St John Redhill SRY and died in 1977.)
